Thuong Thanh Temple

In the early years of the XIX century, Thuong Thanh temple was only a small shrine to worship the gods, after that it was upgraded to a communal house. In 1839, the land of Can Tho named Phong Phu, the village of Thuong Thanh was established, the family also took the name Thuong Thanh which means long-term prosperity. Thuong Thanh Historical-cultural relics is a type of architectural and artistic relics.
- Under King Gia Long's reign 1802-1820 to the 13th King Minh Mang's reign in 1832 Can Tho belonged to Vinh Dinh district, Dinh Vien district, Vinh Thanh town - Thuong Thanh area of ​​Vinh Dinh district.
- In 1868, France colony occupied three Western Southern provinces (Vinh Long, An Giang, Ha Tien) Thuong Thanh of Phong Phu district (Can Tho). The decree on December 20, 1889, the French government abolished the name of the district, dividing the South into 21 provinces, including Can Tho province.

- In 1917, Thuong Thanh commune, belonging to Dinh Bao district, Chau Thanh district, Can Tho province.
- In 1956, Can Tho province changed its name to Phong Dinh province, Thuong Thanh commune of Dinh Bao district, Chau Thanh district, Phong Dinh province.
- After 1975, Thuong Thanh commune was in Chau Thanh district, Hau Giang province, until 1991 separating Can Tho province and Soc Trang province, at which time Thuong Thanh belonged to Chau Thanh district, Can Tho province.
