Long Quang pagoda Located on Rach Cam canal (Long Hoa ward, Binh Thuy district, Can Tho city), Long Quang pagoda is famous for the history of over 100 year olds with sophisticated sculpture. Long Quang Pagoda was built around 1824, during King Minh Mang's reign. At first, the pagoda was only a small temple, spent many generations of venerable monks, the pagoda was built and renovated nicely as it is today. The pagoda is now recognized as a national cultural monument in 1993. In the pagoda's main hall, there are 42 statues, arranged around 4 walls. Among them, the statue of Arhats nearly 100 years old. The statues of the arhats were carved by wood. This is a good wood, very durable, not termite, resistant to rain and sun and protect the paint color. Each statue is 80cm tall but very heavy, it takes two to three people to lift up. According to Venerable Thich Binh Tam, head of Long Quang pagoda and some documents collected from the pagoda, the statue of the arhat was given to the insider in 1889 by Venerable Tu Quang around 1920 to 1922.
