Tan Loc islet
Taking about 40km from Can Tho city center, Tan Loc islet (Tan Loc ward, Thot Not district) attracts tourists with fruitful orchards, ancient houses, friendly and rustic lifestyle of people in Southwest. Tan Loc is located adjacent to the three provinces of Dong Thap, An Giang and Can Tho.When newly formed, all reed island, people come to reclaim mainly by rake mussels, catch rice snails... The islet has many names associated with each development period. In the 1970s and 1980s, sugarcane and sugar cooking were popular, musician Pham Tuyen composed the song "My country has a sweet island". The name "Sweet Island" comes from there. Later, many people shifted to raise fish rafts, and the island was named "fishing village". Today, Tan Loc islet with an area of more than 3,200ha, fertile alluvial soil.
One of the must-see attractions when coming to the islet is Mrs Le Hong Diep guava garden, about 4,000m2, planted with clean technology, guava fruit is full, shiny and very sweet. Follow small roads, guests can pick guava and enjoy on the spot. Ms Diep said: "The fruit has been wrapped up since they were tiny, so visitors can remove the cover and eat it, because I grow guava without using chemicals."
Most gardeners on the islet are covered with fruit carefully. Alluvial soil is rich in nutrients, so the fruits here are always delicious and sweet. A few kilometers away from the house of Mrs Diep's house, Do Trung Ngon's garden also served tourism. With an area of 3ha, the garden has oranges, rambutan, burmese grape ..., especially there are very large fish ponds and ditches for tourists to fish and go in boats. With rambutan as the main tree, the fruit garden of Mr. Do Trung Ngon's house is ripe in May and June; right on the occasion of Tan Loc Fruit Garden Festival. Currently, visitors can visit orange garden, fishing, boat or feeding fish. Meanwhile, Mr. Le Tan Nhuong coconut garden makes visitors feel like lost in the land of Ben Tre.The coconut is straight, leaning on the canal. Coconut garden has an area of 7.5 hectares of land, with 550 roots of Siamese coconut, fire coconut, pineapple coconut ... After exploring the island, at this coconut garden visitors can get a hammock to enjoy the fresh space, enjoy the sweet coconuts. In small canals that are intertwined with coconut banks, tourists relax and swim around sightseeing, taking photos.

Another fascinating experience at the islet is to explore the ancient house system. Tan Loc islet has 12 old houses, but only a few houses are intact. The highlight of this is Mr. Tran Ba The's house, often called Mr. Sau The. The house built by Mr. Tran Thien Thoai (Long Xuyen) - Tran Ba The's father and completed in 1935. The house still has a combination of East-West architecture. The walls of the entire house are built by two layers of bricks, creating a cool space. The front of the house was built in a Western style, with rows of roof supports with sophisticated patterns. His house is like a miniature "museum of antiquities": ceilings with wooden lanterns around the end of the nineteenth century, cement lamps, American oil lamps in the early twentieth century. ; tables, chairs, dishes, delicate carved flowers ...
In addition to the ancient house of Mr. Sau The, Tan Loc has many other old houses such as Mr. Nguyen Van Ti's house, Mr. Nguyen Van Thi, Mr. Huynh Quang Que... Through the story of the owner, visitors will understand more about the culture and lifestyle of the ancient Southern people.
